In Manila we walked for hours around cities as if we had just grown legs and feet.
The Living Past

This is an illustration for a story called the Living Past, which is about a young girl’s plight to survive the Japanese invasion of the Philippines. I made roses with soldiers and bayonets as it’s thorns to show a painful past that is behind a now beautiful present day.
